Much going on in Washington D.C. right now that affect us in the fire and defense industries. I’ve attached a great report from the International Association of Fire Chiefs provided by one of our Darley board members Garry Briese. One of the most important developments you can read about in the attachment is the passing of Continuing Resolution 2028 which includes additional funding for emergency and disaster relief.
Darley has a heavy focus currently in the emergency and disaster relief markets, we’re currently supplying 50 residential fire sprinkler systems a week for FEMA emergency housing from our Ohler Facility in Janesville, IA. We also offer a complete line of water purification products you can read more on in our second attachment, or on our water treatment section of Darley.com here.
Consolidation within the fire industry continued in 2016 and shows no signs of slowing in 2017. Acquisitions in 2016 included the purchase of Smeal by Spartan Motors and Rev Group purchasing KME.

SOWF is run by a Defense board member Joe McGuire, who happens to be good friends with Admiral McCraven. If you’ve never seen Admiral McCraven’s commencement address at the University of Texas from 2014 I urge you to take 20 mins to watch, it’s fantastic.
Our last attachment is from McKinsey called Getting Beyond the BS of Leadership Literature by Jeffrey Pfeffer at Stanford. It’s definitely worth a read if you’re a consumer of leadership texts.
