Question: What is your perspective on the significance of technological advancements and investment in equipment to optimize manufacturing processes and exceed customer needs?
Asked by: Kirk McKinzie, Captain (Ret) McKinzie Smart Technologies
Answer: Darley has always invested heavily in capital expenditures to best service our customers. We’re thrilled to announce the latest addition to our Chippewa Falls, WI, location – the new Okuma MA-600HIII horizontal milling machine. This state-of-the-art equipment is revolutionizing our machining capabilities, enhancing setup efficiency, and delighting our customers with faster service. Key features include:
- 6-pallet Automatic Pallet Changer (APC): Minimizes downtime between setups, allowing quick and efficient switching between jobs
- 320-tool Automatic Tool Changer (ATC): Eliminates time-consuming tool changes during machining, boosting productivity
Our decision to invest well over $1 million in the 6 APC and 320 ATC was driven by the goal of optimizing setup times for maximum efficiency. By integrating setup times internally with other cycle times, we’ve achieved significant improvements in overall efficiency.
At Darley, we’re dedicated to staying at the forefront of technology and innovation. The Okuma MA-600HIII is a testament to our commitment to excellence and providing the best service possible. With the machine, we’re reaching new heights of efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Exciting opportunities lie ahead.
