Inside Darley February 2018

Hi, I’m Paul Darley, thanks for coming to watch the February issue of Inside Darley.

The idea of Corporate Sustainability has been going around the business world lately. Companies are shifting to become more socially, environmentally, ethically, and culturally responsible. I think this is a good change, it will help sustain corporations by keeping them more aware of the world rather than just focusing on profits. I also believe it helps keep employees engaged and committed to the long-term position of the company. The first attachment is an article related to this by the United Nations called “Guide to Corporate Sustainability”.

Another buzzword floating around is Triple Bottom Line, which a lot of people refer to as People, Planet, and Profits. The approach takes social, environmental and financial impact into account instead of just financial. In other words, a company needs to positively impact all three to be considered successful. This is an approach Darley likes to keep in mind.

With the super bowl fast approaching super bowl commercials have started to pop up, a great one to check out is the Budweiser commercial. The video shows Budweiser practicing social awareness by producing drinking water at one of their factories and delivering the water to Puerto Rico and Texas after the recent disasters. It has my vote for best super bowl commercial, you can watch the Budweiser video below.
Our second article is “Record Breaking Disasters.” Which talks about the cost of the recent hurricanes and wildfires. The article goes into just how much damage was caused by disasters in 2017. There was $306 billion dollars in damage this year compared to the previously most costly year in 2005 at $215 billion. One of the the main takeaways from this article is that frequency of environmental disasters is on the rise and everyone should prepare accordingly.

Puerto Rico is still hurting after the hurricanes and continues to need support. Eulando Pinero is our contact in Puerto Rico, he keeps us informed on the situation, and they still need help. Recently our partner Key Fire Hose donated $5000 dollars in Darley Safe Water to Puerto Rico. Our third attachment is “Supplier Disaster Response” which has information on how companies can get involved in donating Darley Safe Water to Puerto Rico and other places in need.

Thanks for watching this issue of Inside Darley, if there is anything we can be doing to assist you we hope you reach out to us.
