Hi, I’m Paul Darley, and thanks for watching our February 2017 edition of Inside Darley.
Looking back on 2016, it was a fantastic year for Darley. We grew 22% thanks in large part to the hard work of our employees, solid partner relationships and new relationships such as the Boston Fire Department who recently purchased 23 new E-One pumpers with Darley PSM 1500 pumps.
As we look to 2017 and leadership planning for the future I wanted to share this article from McKinsey. It’s an interview with Tom Peters, a business guru for going on 30 years. He discusses some challenges leaders face and reiterates some points about communication with customers and staff.
Leadership doesn’t only apply to CEOs and managers of course. The same things that stress us out also affect Fire Chiefs. For a look into that I’m sharing an article from a new blog called Fire Officer Mentor called 10 Things that Keep a Fire Chief Awake at Night. Some good insights there, most focused on the safety of a department and how to ensure that.
The last article I’m sharing is an article I wrote for Fire Apparatus Magazine on Big Data in the Fire Service. There I review some of the ways big data can work to the fire service’s advantage and list a bunch of great resources available.
We’re always working to make Inside Darley more relevant and useful to you. To that end we’re hoping you’ll take a couple of minutes to fill out a brief survey on what you’d like to see on new editions of Inside Darley. If you take the survey you’ll be entered in a raffle for some great prizes including Chicago style food shipped right to your door! You can take the survey here.
Thanks as always for watching and if there is anything we can be doing to assist you, we hope you’ll reach out to us.
