Brian Brown is a Colorado native and just retired as Bureau Chief, Fleet Services in January 2019 after serving 31 years with South Metro Fire Rescue. During that time, Brian had developed an enterprise fund which provides cost efficiency with quality service for the fleet of vehicles in the Department and provides as the same level of service to other fire agencies that were included during several mergers. He had the luxury to the chair South Metro’s 5 module Apparatus Committee and instructed an apparatus module for the annual engineer’s academy.

Brian has authored and co-authored several articles and hosted webinars which have appeared in Firehouse, Fire Apparatus, and Former Fire Chief Magazines.

Brian is also a Subject Matter Expert with the FDSOA Board of Directors and also reviews and performs workshops during the FDSOA Apparatus Symposium.

Brian has played a key part in the CFAI (Commission on Fire Accreditation International) fire department accreditation process for multiple agencies in Colorado that include Parker Fire, Castlewood Fire, South Metro Fire Rescue, Cunningham Fire and Castle Rock Fire.

Finally, the demand for Brian’s expertise inspired him to create a consulting firm for fire department apparatus inspections, replacement, fleet operations, specifications, apparatus training/testing, and more.

In addition, the demand for Brian to share his expertise adjoins the union of joint owner of Craven and Associates. The demand for expertise includes Fire Fleets, Subject Mater Expert, Apparatus Specifications and Inspections along with General Fleet Operations Practices are the specialty areas in the company. Additionally, Brian was recently nominated Associate Consultant for ESCI (Emergency Services Consulting International) Western Regional Team.
